1) To punish Russia, Europe must be prepared to suffer, CNN
– And while Europe’s leaders are acutely aware of the threat to peace on their Eastern flank, the countries with the most at stake have, time after time, seemed unable to present a united and resolute front. (flank – 측면)
– But the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 has become a game changer — a watershed moment which most concede would be too dangerous to let go.
– Just as the region is trying its best to revive a stagnant economy, attempting to mend a fragile debt market and tackle high unemployment, alienating a major trading partner next door is a risk Europe’s ministers are understandably loath to take.
– For Germany, curtailed trade with Russia could really bite. (curtail –
– Sectors like the automotive industry, defense and engineering which have haemorrhaged jobs since the 2008 crisis would be hit hard once again. (haemorrhage –
– By tightening the noose over Russia’s banks, Europe hopes not only to turn the country’s key industrialists away from president Putin but also to limit the Kremlin’s ability to fund its banks on the international markets, meaning Russia would have to dig deep into its currency reserves and undermine the value of the Ruble — a currency which has up until now been surprisingly unruffled.

2) Second American infected with Ebola, CNN
– A second American aid worker in Liberia has tested positive for Ebola, according to the Christian humanitarian group she works for. (aid worker –
– Last week, a Liberian man hospitalized with Ebola in Lagos died, Nigerian Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu said. (hospitalize –
– The disease isn’t contagious until symptoms appear. Symptoms include fever, headache and fatigue. (fatigue – 피로)

3) South Korea ferry: Students ‘floated from cabins’, BBC
– The ferry tragedy killed scores of students and left a nation in mourning (scores of – 아주 많은)
– The students had obeyed the crew’s orders to stay put, even as water started coming in as the Sewol listed. (stay put –

4) Wikipedia blocks ‘disruptive’ page edits from US Congress, BBC
– Wikipedia administrators have imposed a ban on page edits from computers at the US House of Representatives, following “persistent disruptive editing”. (disruptive –

2. Xen vcpu pinning

(dom0_max_vcpus=1 dom0_vcpus_pin)

title           Xen 4.5, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, kernel
root            (hd0,0)
kernel          /boot/xen.gz dom0_mem=1024M vpmu=1 dom0_max_vcpus=1 dom0_vcpus_pin
module          /boot/vmlinuz- root=UUID=bb0c3cc6-6cd0-422f-86b3-845c1f6a6312 ro splash console=tty0
module          /boot/initrd.img-

2) VM config

#xl vcpu-list
Name                           ID         VCPU       CPU State            Time(s) CPU Affinity
Domain-0                        0           0          0   r--              56.3  0
gumdaeng                        1           0          9   -b-              13.3  6-9
gumdaeng                        1           1          7   -b-               5.5  6-9
gumdaeng                        1           2          8   -b-               1.5  6-9
gumdaeng                        1           3          6   -b-               2.3  6-9

$ runspec --config=linux-ia64-icc91.cfg --action=build --tune=base bzip2
runspec v4662 - Copyright 1999-2006 Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation
 Using 'x86_64-linux' tools
 Reading MANIFEST... 17910 files
 Loading runspec modules...............
 Locating benchmarks...found 31 benchmarks in 12 benchsets.

 Build successes: 401.bzip2(base)

The log for this run is in /home/gumdaeng/tmp/SPECCPU_2006/result/CPU2006.400.log
runspec finished at Mon Jul 28 11:19:12 2014; 43 total seconds elapsed

$runspec --config=linux-ia64-icc91.cfg --size=test --tune=base --noreportable --iterations=1 bzip2
